The survey closed Friday after receiving 2,486 responses. The breakdown of our respondents:

  • 22 percent freshmen
  • 16 percent sophomores
  • 18 percent juniors
  • 24 percent seniors
  • 20 percent graduate students
  • less than 1 percent faculty and staff

Slightly more females (54 percent) than males (46 percent) participated. About a quarter (24 percent) live in residence halls and 40 percent live in apartments. Only 3 percent live in greek houses.

A quarter of respondents (25.48 percent) said they are highly aware of news, and more than half (52 percent) described themselves as “somewhat aware” of news.

More than a quarter (28 percent) rely on news websites to get their news, and almost a quarter (24 percent) rely on social media to get their news. Print newspaper reliance was only 8 percent.

We’ll keep crunching the numbers and let you know what else we’ve learned.
