This post is not about our study, Imagine the Future: Campus Media in a Digital Age. Today, that effort is on hold while we in OU Student Media mourn the death of our friend and colleague, Stacy Wehrenberg.
Stacy passed away this afternoon after a valiant fight against breast cancer, leaving behind her husband, Michael Wehrenberg — also our Student Media colleague — and their 9-year-old daughter, Abby.
Stacy was with Student Media for more than a quarter century — far longer than anyone else here. She was our institutional memory, our guide through the university’s bureaucratic maze, our rock.
Others will write of the joy we all felt when something amused Stacy and her cackling laughter spread through the office. But I will most remember her as a fierce protector of the legacy passed on each semester to a new group of students at The Oklahoma Daily and Sooner yearbook.
It’s hard to know how we’re going to go on without her.
